Current Track Obsession 🎧 March 2021

Hey-yo! Can't believe we are on the last legs of March. 🙈 February flew, but March ran away. 🏃‍♀️ Our impending move becomes closer and closer which has meant the last few days have been lots of goodbyes... thus there have been a lot of emotions in my life.

.

March was a month of dealing with those emotions and stresses while carefully balancing my newfound love of content creation, music blogging, moving, and wrapping up things at my full-time job. Ya know, not much going on these days. 😆

.

But enough about what happened in my life during the month of March, let's get to the music! 🎶🎶

.

As a reminder, this is a special, monthly edition of Current Track Obsession where I give a spotlight 💡 to 5 music things (band, song, album, artist, etc.) that changed my life in March. If you listen or check out nothing else, look into these!

.

1. Boom Forest - Missed Memo (album)

First up is the recently released EP album "Missed Memo" from Boom Forest, an artist that was featured in my most recent Volume of Current Track Obsession. I love Boom Forest and this sound that "Missed Memo" gives off with its three funky, indie, alternative tracks. Each one gives off a vibe that's unique and not exactly like something you've heard before. I am here for it! I first fell in love with "Down," then when "Trickledown" came down (CTO Vol. IX) I thought it couldn't get better, but the title song of Boom Forest's EP just continues to explore new heights. If you're into music that speaks for itself but still has a beat and melody that you can dance to, this EP is for you!

2. Power Ranger - Pikes (song)

No matter how many times I listen to "Power Ranger," it's not enough, Pikes really has mastered a laid-back, catchy beat. I find myself singing along, bopping my head, and saying "Oh my god. I love this song" each and every time this song hits the stereo on shuffle mode. Also, added bonus, it SCREAMS spring. The overtones of synthesizer and smooth vocals make it the perfect soundtrack while driving down the street, windows down... I may be speaking from experience.

3. KAPTAN (artist)

I like to keep this Current Track Obsession edition to only NEW to me artists, bands, etc. BUT I have to include Kaptan on this list. Although I first discovered Kaptan in 2015 with their AMAZING EP Sprinter, I completely lost touch, and that I completely regret. Kaptan is that kind of artist I have a hard time picking out a "favorite" hit because they are all so beautiful in their own way. And almost all of Kaptan's tracks make me want to dance and it's hard to sit still and listen! I highly recommend you start at his latest album release "Whatever You Want" which is the reason I re-fell in love with Kaptan and work your way back to the beginning. You won't be disappointed. In fact, it'll probably be an excellent music experience that I might join you on!

4. Clubhouse - Heartbroke (song)

GUYS! AH! "Heartbroke" is my jam! Clubhouse is a brand new boy band that needs to be on your radar because I have a feeling you're going to be hearing a lot more from them in the coming months. Do they have a pretty standard boy band sound? Yes, but they're doing it 10x better than their peers. "Heartbroke" cannot come on without a smile being painted on my face and an instant pep added to my step. The beat is insane, the vocals are fun, and I'm ready to hear what's to come next. Add this to your playlist now!

.

5. OCEANIC (band)

Okay, sue me for this, but this band is also a rediscovery. In my defense though, Oceanic is a band you need in your life. My love for their fun, alternative, hazy sound began in 2018 when they released their single "You." I'm pretty sure when I heard it my reaction went something like, "AH! YEAH!" Then, when searching for Vol. VIII Oceanic reentered my world with their track "Change Your Mind." My mind was a little blown, in the best way possible, that it was the same band. Oceanics sound was good in "You" but with their recent releases, it's become more defined, more unique, and more cool. 🤣😎 Do yourself a favor and keep an eye out for their EP coming out soon!
