Current Track Obsession 🎧 Vol. XIII

My first Colorado Current Track Obsession- Whoot, Whoot! πŸŽ‰ It's hard to believe that just two weeks ago I was writing my CTO blog from our De Pere, Wisconsin apartment just a few hours after finding out we would be moving in one week! And boy, what a few weeks it has been! πŸ™ˆ

.

I'm not going to tell you our move went picture-perfect, I'm not trying to fool anyone! But, the way Steven and I have overcome those challenges together has impressed the heck out of me. It's a really swell feeling when you finally get to sit and realize "Damn, we made it!" instead of stressing about all the little things. ❀

.

Yesterday, Steven and I adventured into literally our backyard which happens to be the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, and did a quick, it was freeeezzzingggg, photoshoot. πŸ“Έ And I am just in awe of how they turned out! More to come on that in another blog post, but my point is, we are loving that we are finally in the place we hoped to call home for so long. πŸ₯°

.

This week I'm back to just 5 songs, BUT these songs are KILLER! 🎢 And they came from a long list of amazing tracks that also need to be checked out. You can do that by following this link to my Rainshower Songs- April '21 Playlist!

.

So, let's get to it!

.

1️⃣ Daylight - MATT TAYLOR, Kirsty Grant

* I don't even know where to begin with this track besides telling you how good I think it is, how it gets stuck in my head, and how I'm flabbergasted at how well these two voices melt together. As soon as you hit the chorus where Matt and Kirsty's voices drop together, it's pretty fantastic. If you're looking for a spring cruise tune- which who isn't, then this is your song! You'll be singing and dancing along in no time to its fun/teenage dream beat.

.

2️⃣ Go Wrong - Hauskey

* The award for most relatable lyrics goes to "Go Wrong" by Hauskey. Guys the first words on this track made me nod my head and say, "I'm so with you!" Besides having really a "lol, yup that's me" tune, the whole 'Sunny Side Of The Street' vibe makes you smile from start to finish. And while you're smiling you'll find that grin turns into singing along to this song's catchy melody made up of cleaver rhythms- both of which don't hurt this song's addiction factor.

.

3️⃣ Strangers - Lulu Simon

* You all know by now that funky, dance, electronic tunes are some of my favorites. And this week, "Strangers" is stealing my heart in this category. The detail of synthesizers, harmonies, and tempo changes really makes for a beat that I know I won't soon forget. My obsession with this song has since turned me into a Lulu Simon fan. Not going to lie, I got a little lost on Spotify, and after stalking Lulu's page, I have to say I highly recommend checking out other hits: "Waisted," "Like I Should," and really all of her releases.

.

4️⃣ Who We Are - Dekleyn

* If you're like me, when you hear a really great song, it causes a physical reaction and that is exactly what happened when I heard "Who We Are" for the first time. The fun, upbeat and danceable track caused a chain reaction of a smile, to a bopping, to a full-out jam session in my chair. I also love how they balanced this multilayered background with simple lyrics and melodies. The whole mood is sunglasses emoji, 😎 so do yourself a favor and listen, so you too can be a sunglasses emoji. 😎

.

5️⃣ a little bit bored - Syence, Ruuth

*A Tiny Explicit*

* Rounding out this week's Current Track Obsession is a track I definitely want to choreograph in the future (and I can't tell you the last time I said that, or was inspired this much.) "a little bit bored" gives you a little lot of everything you could want in an electronic hit: a sweet drum track, cool variety in every turn, and exciting tempo surprises. The addition of Ruuth's voice, and the layering affects that are created in harmonies and melodies boost this song's rating, in my book.

.

When I say it was hard to limit myself to 5 songs, I'm being 100% honest. My first elimination process left me with 15 songs to narrow it down from. So, one last reminder, check me out on Spotify via Rachel Brooks Peterson to discover some other artists you may have never heard about who are just waiting to change your life. 🎧

.

And, because I haven't in a little while, a friendly reminder that Current Track Obsession comes out each Thursday at 12 pm CST (even though I'm in MST, I'll try to stick to my original time.) πŸ’– On top of that list, I also release a special, blog-only CTO edition at the end of the month that you can only read right here on The R. Brooks Blog! That comes out the last Sunday of the month!

.

Thank you all for your support in my music blogging venture. 🎡🎡 It's a dream to be able to bring you something that has been a huge part of my life for, well, forever and that's music. Enjoy your Earth Day y'all! Hug a tree and say "Thank You Mother Nature!"
